George: Material World HBO Movie Part 2 Tonight

What a most enjoyable 1 1/2 hours it was last night for Part One of Martin Scorsese’s Epic Bio: George Harrison: Living in the Material World. It was very well done and had enough previously unseen photos and live footage to keep any fan thrilled. It was amazing to see live color Beatles concert footage from 1963 with George singing lead. We can’t wait for part two tonight! It is on HBO at 9:00PM

  1. Last year, after having a dream about George, I went to a Beatles site and found George fans writing about who would play George in this movie. Silly me, I believed them, and sent my acting reel to Sikelia and Olivia, thinking I could play Olivia. The production office must have had a laugh. When I heard it was a documentary, I was so happy to see that George was finally being given his due. Imagine how the world would be without his influence, he popularized not only charity concerts, but happily, his charity for Unicef (this year, for Horn of Africa, continues), yoga, meditation, vegetarianism (okay, Paul and Linda, as well). But, few people living or dead can parallel George’s humanism and spiritualism. The combination of his sardonic wit as well as his sweetness, innocence (even after all he must have experienced) and idealism doesn’t just shine through, it beams!!! The first time I saw it in the theatres, I smiled, the second time, I got all weepy after feeling the loss of George, and feeling how strong Dhani and Olivia and all of his friends are to miss him. When I thought LIMW was a theatrical movie, I read so many books about him, his spirituality, and I feel that all of us George fans feel that there is no comparison to George Harrison, and we still love him….always

  2. Part one was great, they are showing George’s later years and his solo career when he died in 2001 our football coach at the time at Cimarron-Memorial was a huge fan of his, and a Beatles fan so he had the team wear their “All Things Must Pass!” t-shirts to practice at the football banquet, the week after George’s death I received the “Most Helpful Throughout the Season” award I gave a really big academy awards-esque speech, thanking the football players and having the players and their families bow their heads
and joining me and my family for a moment of silence in rememberence of George Harrison.
