10 Years Later: George

10 years ago today (11/29/2001), George Harrison passed, at the too young age of 58. Yet, in his 58 years, he accomplished so much and improved all of our lives on the way. To list what he has meant to Beatles fans is not possible. We know in our hearts and that will always be with us. Plus, of course, that priceless volume of music he gave us. For younger fans who may not be as familiar with his solo work, go listen. You will find many, many gems not heard on radio. Right now I am listening to Cloud Nine. It brings back many warm memories and feelings. Go listen to his music today to celebrate his amazing life. Guaranteed to lift anyone’s spirits. Thank you George for being yourself. Peace and Love.

  1. Yea Mark, As I said on Facebook, I still miss George as much as I do John. What a powerhouse of a group between all four. There will never be another one, sad to say. I think George was one of the most under-rated songwriters as well as an under-rated guitarist. He went into the studio and came up with most of the leads we hear on Beatle records, just off the top of his head. Wow, I am still amazed as were the kids I taught for 39 years who all became Beatle fans. Another sad day for all us in Beatleland!

  2. very well said mark!george was great and he was real!i love his music with the beatles and on his own.all things must pass is fantastic!take care mark!

  3. I always wonder if there will ever be a band that I enjoy as much as The Beatles. Probably not since it was well over 40 years ago, and just the times were different and me just being a youngster. They taught me Music, especially Melody. They will always be the best for me. – Vin Laporta

  4. Mark and Fest people, it is a real sad day. I am so sad to have never seen George live and the new movie to George is awesome (even if incomplete in parts). God Bless George and thanks for the music. And Olivia, how about a soundtrack CD for the movie????? RIP Dear One!

  5. For George scruffs who live in the Los Angeles area, I was pleased to see that walking along Beverly Blvd. east of Fairfax, a boutique store selling men’s clothes that has in big bold construction paper letters in the window the caption “WITHIN WITHOUT YOU” and GEORGE HARRISON 1943-2001. Funny thing is that I was discussing with a loved one the night before (lol, but really) that I wished that the Beatles billboard which had posted ITUNES and BEATLES last year which (and finding out later that Georgie’s Living In the Material World billboard in the 70s was right there on La Cienega) was up instead of the IPAD (kind of like Georgie smiling down on us). I walked in to the Beverly Blvd. boutique and the sales guy and owner all loved Georgie two. Makes me smile. Diamond
