Harry Nilsson<\/strong>, a singer-songwriter\/pianist\/guitarist, is best known for scoring hits with two songs he didn’t write – “Everybody’s Talkin'” and “Without You.” While casual Nilsson fans recognize him for those two songs, he’s remembered by critics and hardcore fans as a brilliant songwriter who had one of the best voices of any singer of his or any generation.

\nIn 1968, John Lennon famously referred to Nilsson as his “favorite American group.” Shortly after, Nilsson visited the Beatles in London. Nilsson’s most successful album was Nilsson Schmilsson, which was released in 1971. The album is viewed as one of the best of the 70s. Nilsson was famously John Lennon’s partner in crime during Lennon’s “Lost Weekend” between 1973 and 1975, and recorded the album Pussy Cats (which was produced by Lennon) during that time.

\nNilsson was present in 1974 when John Lennon gave FEST founder Mark Lapidos his blessing for the first FEST. After Lennon was murdered in 1980, Nilsson joined The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence<\/a> and became an advocate for gun control.

\nBorn in Brooklyn, New York on June 15th, 1941, Harry Nilsson<\/strong><\/span> passed away in 1994.
